The 2012 Audi A5 was essentially unchanged from the previous model year. In the 2011 model year, the A5 has been updated with a new eight-speed automatic transmission that replaces last six-speed automatic. Premium Plus and Prestige models had two wheels and a new Titanium Sport Package. Birch wood trim was replaced by Nutmeg Laurel timber added navigation and HD radio. Luxury models receive an optional power rear window shade, standard backup camera and rear parking sensors.

The 2012 Audi A5 is a bold, sweeping both coupe hardtop and convertible styles, shapes out of the competition. Unlike the competition, though, the convertible model uses a traditional fabric roof that raises and lowers-fold faster than today's metal roofs. A wide-mouth grille and lower air intakes, a Cue Audi design language, and 18-inch wheels are standard with 19-inch wheels are optional. Next year, the Audi A5 styling refresh.

Thanks to the turbocharger, based on 2012 Audi A5 four-cylinder engine and 211 hp provide a willing and capable powertrain, and the most efficient of the two available. An optional 3.2-liter V-6 offers 265 hp for the more sporty. Audi's quattro all-wheel drive is optional, and helps propel the A5 with impressive grip.
