The Porsche 911 Carrera is all new for this year and is larger than its predecessor. But the wizards at Porsche managed to shear 100 pounds from the new model, allowing fuel to the engines and their all-new seven-speed manual or dual clutch automatic transmission to improve.
The 2012 Porsche 911 coupe sports a new exterior and interior designs. Other models like the Porsche GT3 and the cabrio transmission unchanged in the new model year.

2012 Porsche 911 What's new
The Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S are all-new for 2012. Both are longer, wider and lower than the previous generation, with a newly designed headlights and taillights and prominent wheel arches. Porsche renews the interior of both sports cars, especially the center console. The new 3.4-liter and 3.8-liter V-6 engines are coupled to either a completely new seven-speed manual or an automatic double clutch. Finally, the automaker refreshed the electric power steering and suspension systems.
2012 Porsche 911 Outside
Porsche Carrera does the 2012 Carrera S coupes and by extending the wheelbase, or distance between the front and rear tires. So both the coupes look longer and the larger wheel arches give the Carrera wider, crouched down, position. The automaker Porsche will increase the traditional headlights, while the thinner tail.
2012 Porsche 911 Interior
The interior of the 2012 Porsche Carrera and Carrera S Coupe benefits from the same extended wheelbase. Driver and front passenger gets a little more legroom, but the last row still works best for very small children or, better yet, a beautifully upholstered luggage for the weekend.
The rest of the interior was also redesigned for 2012, and the all-new center console meters and bears a strong resemblance to the Panamera sedan.
2012 Porsche 911 Performance & Handling
One of the secrets of Porsche's claim-to-fame is the ease of its models as a daily cruiser. Road imperfections are comfortably numb (with sports car standards) by road and wind noise muted. The engine noise is well suppressed (although it can power to hear, especially the turbo models).
Otherwise, both the all-new models and previous editions still remain planted to the road especially during hard cornering maneuvers. The longer wheelbase of the new Carrera models makes them more stable during long commutes, and when hitting winding roads at high speeds.
2012 Porsche 911 Safety
Standard active and passive safety features on all 2012 Porsche models include front, side and curtain airbags in the 2012 Carrera and Carrera S models get additional knee airbags. Antilock brakes (ABS) and stability control (ESC) are standard. Other functions that can be considered as a safety option, like all-wheel drive, depending on the features available with each model and trim.
