2012 Mazda CX-9 Preview

The 2012 Mazda CX-9 maintains its reputation as a fun, sporty SUV. Powered by a 3.7-liter V-6, a large 273 horsepower, the CX-9 is still one of the strongest offerings in the larger, three-row crossover SUV. In 2008 was named Motor Trend Sport / Utility of the Year, winning for his versatility.

The CX-9 can hold up to seven passengers, with 17.6 cubic feet cargo space to spare, mildly addressing unpaved roads with available all-wheel drive system in place, and comfort and entertain passengers with improved materials and multimedia options. The CX-9 takes the corners with confidence, despite its larger build.

You will notice a prominent five-point grille CX-9's, with what has become known as Mazda's "smile" design cue. More aerodynamically efficient exterior mirrors, rear garnish and rear in recent years have kept the CX-9 fresh and attractive in the segment.

After a recent mid-life facelift, there are no changes for the first three rows of Mazda's SUV. The update included an updated exterior, including new wheel styles, plus chrome interior accents, upgraded leather, and two-stage heated seats inside. Updated rear climate controls, keyless entry, starting system and a 4.3-inch LCD screen are also new.

Athletic appearance of the CX-9's is based on an expectation of performance, while offering sufficient benefits. Designers hoped a "sophisticated look" with the redesign of the CX-9's reach. A thick chrome bar make the front pop five-point grille, while the smooth profile, sloping windshield, muscular edges and an attractive, sporty cars to call such attitudes.

The 2012 Mazda CX-9 is a well designed interior, to the top of the class. Sporty touches like brightly colored edges on gauges and blue backlighting to keep things lively. Driver and passenger heated seats are optional. Mazda's LCD multi-information display screen is available with navigation and real-time traffic in a 4.1-inch size, relatively small compared to new offerings on the market. Some models have a rearview backup camera option and blind spot monitoring.

The 2012 Mazda CX-9's engine is powerful and responsive, but not as efficient as others in the class. Yet you do not often expect sporty handling of a SUV, and certainly not as much competition as Mazda offer in that respect. The CX-9 is a great family transporter, providing a smooth in-city driving or long trips, but the extra sportiness administered by Mazda engineers will ensure a happy driver.

Antilock disc brakes with brake assist standard on the CX-9. Driver and passenger dual front, side and curtain airbags are also standard. Dynamic stability and traction control help to all four wheels planted. On Grand Touring models, there is an available Blind Spot Monitoring System.
