2012 Lincoln Navigator Overview
If the world is your ocean, the 2012 Lincoln Navigator is not a bad ship to you on your daily trips to work, shopping, or extensive set of U.S. highways. With a leather-and wood-paneled interior, the Navigator is as luxurious as it is accommodating. And seven-passenger seating and a length that varies between 208 and 223 cm depending on the model, it is very accommodating. Power comes from a 5.4-liter V-8 capable of 310 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque, allowing administrators the ability to draw as much as 9000 pounds when properly equipped. Entering the sixth model year, the current Navigator cases behind its competitors by nearly 100 horsepower in the full-size SUV segment. While Lincoln's words dropped in favor of alphanumeric names in the rest of its lineup, the Navigator as the last of an era where Town Cars, Continentals, and marks the Lincoln lineup ruled. The body-on-frame construction is still common in the luxury off-roader class, but it goes out of style in favor of lighter unibody construction. The Navigator has an impressive list of available technology, but it will not save a growing list of newer, more modern rivals.

The 2012 Navigator will AppLink Sync technology that allows users to program their favorite phone applications in the award winning Sync infotainment system. It will allow drivers to not only speak through a speaker phone, but it must also allow them to check for delays, book reservations, and many other activities to achieve without their hands off the wheel. Also new were the Autumn Red Metallic and Black exterior colors and swirl walnut and olive ash wood trim optional.

Accordance with the retro theme, Lincoln dashboard finished in swaths of satin finish aluminum and wood, which was decorated with Lincoln in the year 1960 in mind. Seats are wide and stuffed with massive center console separating the passengers in the front two rows. The same passengers also enjoy heated leather seats, and rear passengers can enjoy two optional seven-inch monitors integrated into the driver and front passenger headrests. The Navigator has a THX audio system, and power-adjusting pedals are optional.

With three tons of mass to move, feel the Navigator up to speed. But once it gets to the intended speed, highway cruising is a breeze, and the ride is smooth. Despite a four-wheel independent suspension, the Navigator is not a sports car when the road gets twisty. The ride is soft, and the great Lincoln is experiencing a large amount of body roll. However, the stability, traction and roll stability control, the treatment is not scary.

The 2012 Lincoln MKX is a technology-filled medium luxury utility vehicle based on the Ford Edge platform. With a few new enhancements to the new 2011 model, the 2012 Lincoln MKX objectives established input, such as the Lexus RX. Under the hood is a standard 3.7-liter V-6 and reached a good-but-not-great 26 mpg on the highway on FWD models, and a comfortable and stable ride with a host of safety features, the severity is pronounced with a plethora of acronyms. The inside cabin is like a spaceship, but not with buttons and knobs and levers, but with touch screens and voice command. MyLincoln Touch This feature has proved controversial as some people find it confusing. Cargo space and comfort are good for the class, and the MKX seats five.

The 305 hp 3.7-liter V6 has enough power for decent performance straight line, reaching 60 mph in just 7.2 seconds, not bad for a car filled with luxury and electronic equipment. The finger-tip shifted six-speed automatic works well for sporty driving, the brakes are firm and respond well, and a firm suspension provides a smooth ride, which clouds the perception of speed. New for the full-size luxury class for 2009, the Lincoln MKS debuted with a powerful turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine, the first EcoBoost engine in the Ford and Lincoln lineup. Moving 3.5 liters and generating 355 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, while achieving 25 mpg highway, the MKS 'engine supposedly made the need for a V-8 option obsolete. With a large number of trick technology, MKS carved out a niche as a sporty, but not particularly sporty, full-size sedan, the struggle to do in the market against the established names in Germany and Japan in the heart of the $ 50,000 lux segment. Coming with optional all-wheel drive atmospheric 3.7-liter V-6 models and standard on the EcoBoost four-wheel drive cars, the MKS is a willing handler, but does not expect a new track lap record. That said, it's not so much a competitor to the establishment of foreign luxury car manufacturers as much as it is for your own Ford Taurus SHO sedan, which is much the same car with 10 horsepower and cost about $ 8000 less. Except for some noise and isolation, the biggest difference between the two are the badges on the front of each, so the SHO seem much more cautious buying.

Large and in charge, the more gracefully integrates MKS Lincoln split grille and appearance than some of its stablemates. Available to the MKS is a large dual-panel moonroof that brings in plenty of sunlight, 20-inch wheels and chrome borders on the windows. The MKS comes standard with HID headlights and LED taillights, and the package comes across as smooth, powerful and purposeful.

Pampered rake and plush leather chairs, travel is a breeze, and parking is even easier with the optional park assist, which uses radar sensors to park parallel to the MKS little more than brake modulation of the driver.

Like muscle cars of yesteryear, the MKS is a lot of the engine in the EcoBoost equipped, but not much of anything else when a bend in the road. The steering is light and numb and the brakes are mushy. Remove the motor and the drive is just ho-hum. Not that it's terrible, but there are $ 40,000 cars from the likes of Chrysler and Hyundai with similar space and power to the MKS EcoBoost, which give the driver more feedback for less coin.
