2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Overview
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG sports car was developed by Mercedes AMG in-house division. Replacement of the Mercedes SLR McLaren, which was jointly developed by the sports and racing car builder McLaren, AMG designers drew inspiration from famous Mercedes-Benz models, especially the mid 50s Mercedes 300SL sports car.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is not related to the SL and in fact little relationship to the rest of the models in the Mercedes lineup, including other AMG models. Instead, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG built on its own weight-saving aluminum platform and uses some components, mainly internal documents, the other models. The Mercedes SLS AMG's engine comes from the SL63 already highly adapted to the nature of the SLS AMG, the same seven-speed automatic transmission.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG debuted as a 2011 model so there are few changes for 2012. However, a soft-top convertible model joins the lineup in late 2011 as a 2012 model.

The biggest news for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the addition of a convertible model. Scheduled to debut sometime later this year, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG cabriolet soft-top model in the automaker, unfolds in eleven seconds, even if the SLS AMG will travel to 30 mph.
Otherwise, little will change for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The standard coupe gets a Blind Spot Assist and optional adaptive suspension and AMG measurements telematics systems. New colors will also be available.
